Concrete deactivator - Naturcem

Naturcem® is a positive surface concrete deactivator based on water. Its main function consists of slowing down and delaying in a controlled manner the setting of the concrete.

Ready to use and fully biodegradable, it delays the hydration of the cement on the surface exposed to the concrete. This concrete deactivator contributes to reducing the ecological footprint, as it is free of solvents.

A product that is especially indicated for making decorative pavements from the controlled deactivation of the curing of the concrete. It is not necessary to previously protect any surrounding area, except on facades that are painted and on porous surfaces.

Depending on the color, the degree of attack, and the size of the aggregate, we find three types of concrete deactivators: Naturcem® Low, Naturcem® Medium, and Naturcem® High.

How to apply concrete deactivator: step by step and tips

1. Before using the Naturcem® concrete deactivator, it is necessary to level and smooth the concrete so that the surface is homogeneous. If necessary, a slight vibration could be performed for a short period of time.

2. The type of cement as well as the dosage, are two factors that affect the setting time of the concrete. If a high dosage of cement is used in the formulation of the concrete, the depth of our concrete deactivator will be reduced.

3. We recommend using monofilament synthetic fibers to increase the cohesion of the concrete that is going to be deactivated with Naturcem®. These fibers facilitate the subsequent application of our product.

4. We advise carrying out small tests before applying the imprinted concrete deactivator on the entire surface. Spray Naturcem® on the surfaces close to the fresh concrete to ensure that the positive surface retardant does not dirty the surrounding elements.

5. Wait for the bleeding water to disappear. Approximately 30 minutes after the application of the concrete.

6. Shake the Naturcem® concrete deactivator so that the product is homogeneous. Then, spray it evenly with a nozzle of 0.79 mm in diameter at 2/4 bars.

7. Wash with pressurized water (between 100 and 150 bars) the concrete. The nozzle must be kept about 20-40 cm from the surface. The spray should form an angle of about 45º with the deactivated concrete.

8. After applying the concrete deactivator, the surface will need to be cleaned. A cleaning that should take place between 3 and 24 hours after the application of Naturcem®. If, on the other hand, the product is exposed to strong wind and sun or the temperature is below 35ºC, it should be cleaned between 4 and 12 hours later. Above 35ºC, the cleaning margin is between 3 and 8 hours after the use of the Naturcem® concrete deactivator.

Special precautions of the concrete deactivator Naturcem®

It's a non-flammable concrete deactivator.

If the product comes into contact with the skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap.

Do not use solvents or thinners, while ensuring good ventilation of the space.

For the application of the Naturcem® Floor imprinted concrete deactivator, it is recommended to use a mask that has a chemical absorbent as well as protective glasses and rubber gloves. To prevent the material from drying or thickening, after each use it will be necessary to quickly close the lid.
