What it is

Created for the skilled applicator, Sttandard allows full control over the mix, the texture and the final result, making it possible to create textures with a character of their own in every project. A system designed for professionals who are not looking for a flat, repetitive finish, but for continuous surfaces with identity, depth and personality.

Thanks to its robustness and layered application system, this two-component microcement adapts to multiple surfaces, both horizontal and vertical, indoors and outdoors. A versatile solution for residential projects, commercial premises, hotels, restaurants, offices, sports facilities, industrial buildings and other spaces where a reliable, technical and long-lasting decorative coating is required.

The Sttandard range consists of four two-component microcements —Microbase, Microfino, Microdeck and Microstone— developed to cover the different stages of the system, from substrate preparation to the final finish.

Sttandard Microbase is the traditional two-component microcement preparation. It is always used before the application of Sttandard Microfino, Sttandard Microdeck, and Sttandard Microstone.

It is a perfect decorative coating for covering walls, facades or furniture. Once applied, it provides a silky and smooth finish to the touch. In addition, its ability to achieve watermarks gives it a high decorative value.

Aesthetically, this two-component microcement for interior walls resembles lime stucco, but with a much more natural finish.

Sttandard Microfino is available in 2 different granulometries: S and M.

With a medium-grained texture, his two-component microcement for finishing interior floors has a less pronounced watermark effect than Sttandard Microfino. Aesthetically it resembles polished concrete but with all the advantages of microcement.

How to apply Sttandard two-component microcement

The application of Sttandard traditional two-component microcement is carried out using a layered system, where each stage influences adhesion, resistance and the final finish. Depending on the surface —wall or floor—, its location —indoor or outdoor— and the desired finish —rustic, natural or stone-like—, the step-by-step process may vary.

Substrate preparation.
Before starting, the substrate must be clean, consolidated, free from grease and in good surface flatness conditions.

Surface priming.
Before applying the Sttandard Microbase two-component preparation microcement, the substrate must be prepared with the appropriate primer according to its nature and conditions: Primacem® PLUS / ABS for non-absorbent or absorbent substrates, or barriers against vapour and rising damp such as Primapox® 100 Barrier. Depending on the case, it may also be necessary to use the flat and flexible fibreglass mesh Builtex.

Mix Sttandard with Acricem resin.
Sttandard two-component microcement is mixed with the acrylic resin Acricem and the colourants corresponding to the chosen colour. To guarantee the system’s performance, it is essential to respect the mixing ratio indicated in the technical data sheet. Mixing must be carried out with a low-speed mechanical mixer until a homogeneous, uniform and lump-free mixture is obtained. The minimum recommended mixing time is 4 minutes.

Apply 1 or 2 coats of Sttandard Microbase.
Depending on the substrate, apply one or two coats of Sttandard Microbase XXL, XL or L with a metal trowel. On floors, always apply two coats of Sttandard Microbase and first place the flexible Builtex mesh. Between coats, allow to dry for 4 hours and sand lightly with a random orbital sander and 40-grit sandpaper to remove imperfections before continuing with the system.

Apply the finishing coats.
The finishing coats can be applied using the fresh-on-fresh or fresh-on-dry techniques, depending on the desired effect and the system’s application guidelines. The final finish is defined according to the use of the surface and the desired aesthetic result: For a rustic finish, a third coat of Sttandard Microbase XXL or XL can be applied. On interior floors, apply 2 coats of Sttandard Microdeck with a flexible steel trowel to achieve a very natural and elegant finish. Allow 4 hours of drying time between coats and sand each coat with 80-grit sandpaper. On interior walls and non-trafficable surfaces, apply 2 coats of Sttandard Microfino with a flexible rubber trowel to obtain a fine, silky and smooth-to-the-touch finish. Allow 4 hours of drying time between coats and sand each coat with 220-grit sandpaper. In outdoor areas and spaces where a stone-like, anti-slip finish is required, apply 2 coats of Sttandard Microstone with a BiFlex steel trowel. Allow 4 hours of drying time between coats and sand with 40-grit sandpaper.

Sealing Sttandard two-component microcement.
Sttandard traditional two-component microcement must be sealed once the curing process has been completed, which takes place between 24 and 48 hours after application. We recommend applying two coats of Presealer —allowing 4 hours between coats— followed by two coats of a varnish from the TopSealer® range. In particular, the use of TopSealer® WT Dragon is recommended —allowing 18 to 36 hours between coats— as it is the most advanced and complete product in the range.
