Microcement for swimming pools Atlanttic Aquaciment® XL

As a finishing microcement for swimming pools we have the Atlanttic Aquaciment® XL granulometry, which maximum aggregate size is reduced to 0.6 mm. A product with a slightly softer texture but with an equally fantastic performance. Continuous spaces are created that facilitate the union between various areas, creating a uniform and unequalled surface. The burnt effect of the steel trowel is reduced and in just a few days it reaches an extraordinary hardness.

Frequently asked questions about Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools

The new system is easier to apply, harder and more robust, with better water resistance and vapour permeability, increased flexibility, and improved workability.

The total thickness should be between 3 and 5 millimetres, without exceeding this limit.

It’s essential to avoid the hottest hours of the day to ensure the temperature of the environment and the surface never exceeds 25ºC. Keep a close watch on rain forecasts; if rain is expected, pause the installation.

Absolutely. The Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools is suitable for both old and newly built pools.

Yes, it is fully compatible. Before applying our pool microcement, waterproof the concrete to prevent future issues with the substrate.

Our Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools is suitable for reinforced concrete formwork, sprayed concrete, and gunite substrates. This system is not a waterproofing mortar and cannot be applied on other microcements, tiles, adhesive cements, waterproof mortars, or paints due to insufficient anchoring.

Each system must be applied as indicated in the technical data sheets. In the case of Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools, which has been reformulated and improved, it now incorporates a specific resin and varnish precisely to increase the product's performance. If Acricem is used instead of Acricem Pool as component B of the microcement and primer, the mechanical and chemical resistance would be reduced.

Acricem Pool must be used as the primer.

Although Topsealer® WT One Coat, one of our popular water-based varnishes, and Topsealer® WT Pool may appear similar, they have different chemical resistances. The specific sealer for our pool microcement system is more resistant to agents like bleach, ammonia, and vinegar and is harder with higher quality resins. Therefore, just like with the resin, Topsealer® WT Pool must be used.

There should be a 24-hour gap between each coat of TopSealer® WT Pool. Therefore, both coats cannot be applied in the same day, but they can be applied on consecutive days if drying times are strictly followed.

Technically, yes. The "Natural White" colour is actually the base microcement without pigment. However, as manufacturers, we only guarantee the Natural White and White, which are the two options in the Atlanttic Aquaciment® colour chart.

Maintenance is similar to that of other pool types. However, we recommend cleaning with water pressure and refreshing the final layer of Topsealer® WT Pool varnish by sanding the surface every 1 to 2 years, depending on the condition.

The application process for Atlanttic Aquaciment® pool microcement is the same for coating both the pool basin and the edges, border, and surrounding area.

The pool can be filled with water seven days after sealing.

Although Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools is designed as a system for swimming pools and other surfaces, its high hardness allows it to be used on terraces.

We do not recommend applying the new formula over the old system.

To apply Atlanttic Aquaciment® pool microcement with the “wet-on-wet” technique, apply the fourth layer one hour after the third layer.

To obtain a smoother finish, sand each layer with 24- or 40-grit sandpaper, depending on the hardness of the product. Alternatively, apply the "wet-on-wet" technique and use a water spray on the final layer, smoothing it with a metal trowel.
