How to apply Efectto PU waterproof micro concrete

Efectto PU waterproof micro concrete is applied in several coats on both floors and walls, indoors and outdoors, always over levelled and consolidated substrates. Efectto PU is mixed in two components: component A (pigmented with ARCOCEM® PLUS toner) and component B in a 10:0.875 ratio. The step by step for floors and for walls is detailed below.

    Step 1. Level and clean the floor

    Level and consolidate the floor surface. Clean and dry it properly to remove dust, grease, and paint residues.

  2. 2

    Step 2. Prime the floor for perfect bonding

    Apply the appropriate primer according to the surface type: PRIMACEM® PLUS for non-absorbent surfaces. PRIMACEM® ABS for absorbent surfaces. For tiled floors or surfaces with joints, apply PRIMACEM® JOINT to fill the joints and allow 12 to 24 hours to dry before priming.

    Step 3. Mix waterproof microcement Efectto PU

    Mix Component A with a stirrer and add the ARCOCEM® PLUS colour toner. Then, add Component B to Component A in a 10:0.875 ratio and mix at low speed using a mechanical stirrer.

    Step 4. Apply waterproof microcement Efectto PU BIG GRAIN to floors

    Apply two layers of Efectto PU BIG GRAIN with our ATENEA anti-burn steel trowel. For optimal work, it’s essential to maintain a 45-degree application angle.

    Step 5. Drying and sanding

    Allow each layer to dry for 12 to 24 hours, then sand with 40-grit sandpaper to achieve a perfectly smooth and even surface.

    Step 6. Apply waterproof microcement Efectto PU MEDIUM GRAIN

    Apply 1 coat of Efectto PU MEDIUM GRAIN. It’s important to maintain the same application angle and use the ATENEA trowel.

    Leave to dry for 12 to 24 hours and sand gently with 80-grit sandpaper.

    Step 8. Sealing

    Finally, apply two coats of TOPSEALER® WT DRAGON sealer, allowing 18 to 36 hours of drying time between each application.
