What are the moulds for imprinted concrete?

The moulds for imprinted concrete are templates with or without relief that are used to decorate, especially, pavements. Since this is the most common use of this material. Although vertical imprinted concrete is increasingly in demand and, therefore, there are also moulds for vertical surfaces such as facades. In fact, within Imacem we also have this type of moulds.

Moulds that are stamped and printed on a pavement or wall giving it a certain appearance, shape and colour. In the most common locations we can easily recognise the use of moulds for imprinted concrete. For example in public places such as sidewalks, squares and urbanisations, as well as on terraces or swimming pools. Although in the latter case, special caution must be taken with contact with chlorine.

Moulds for imprinted concrete that recreate all kinds of textures and shapes such as ceramics, natural stone, cobblestones, tiles or wood. The latter is undoubtedly one of the most requested because it offers an elegant, rustic and most original finish.

The purpose of the moulds for imprinted concrete is none other than to replace conventional continuous pavements with the most unique designs. A high decorative value thanks to the variety of shapes and materials that the moulds are capable of emulating.

Advantages of moulds for imprinted concrete

Imprinted concrete is one of the most used construction materials today. A decorative solution that is also functional and never goes out of style due to its undeniable benefits.

Next, we are going to develop the main advantages of using moulds for imprinted concrete:

Diversity of designs: the great customisation of the moulds for imprinted concrete allows creating all kinds of drawings and designs on the pavement or wall. A variety that many materials cannot boast of.

Applicable to all types of floors and walls: although imprinted concrete moulds are especially used as exterior coatings, they can also be used indoors even if it is not the most common. Moulds that are mainly applied to floors of urbanisations, parks, gardens, entrances to residential areas, porches, terraces, swimming pools, etc. But also on walls and facades.

Prevent weeds: in the choice of materials to apply in outdoor spaces, water and weed growth are two drawbacks that can cause real problems. With the use of molds for imprinted concrete this does not happen, as a continuous coating is created without joints that prevents the growth of weeds and also withstands water perfectly.

Very durable: the floor or wall resulting from the stamping of an imprinted concrete mould stands out for its durability and resistance. They are continuous coatings that remain in perfect condition over time and do not easily fade, as they resist UV rays.

Types of moulds for imprinted concrete

There are many types of moulds for imprinted concrete depending on the surface you want to renovate and the finish you want to give it. At IMACEM we have three lines of moulds to choose from: one for floors, another for walls and a third that imitates the texture of wood.

Before showing the moulds for imprinted concrete that belong to each of them, a first categorisation and distinction must be made between semi-rigid moulds and those that are flexible.

Semi-rigid imprinted concrete moulds cannot be bent due to their consistency, as they precisely need that rigidity to withstand the weight imposed on them without generating undulations on the concrete coating. However, the applicator can stand on top of said imprinted concrete mould to leave a specific footprint with their own feet or by using a tamper.

On the other hand, there are the flexible imprinted concrete moulds, which are the ones we have at Imacem. Thanks to their excellent flexibility they can be bent without any problem, even at right angles. An advantage that makes it easier to reach inaccessible places for semi-rigid moulds. A flexibility that allows the moulds to sink into the fresh concrete, generating undulations and even overflows.

Imprinted concrete moulds for floors

The moulds for imprinted concrete for floors are the most used, as the majority of works that are carried out with stamped concrete are precisely to cover continuous pavements.

Vertical imprinted concrete moulds

Unique creations can also be achieved for facades, walls or fences with our specific range of moulds for vertical imprinted concrete. Since the application of stamped concrete is not the same on floors as on vertical surfaces.

The dimensions of the moulds for vertical imprinted concrete are smaller than their counterparts for pavements. As a general rule, any mould that does not exceed 80 cm in length can be used on walls.
