Tips and recommendations for cleaning microcement

Our experts recommend considering a series of factors when cleaning microcement. As the impact on microcement walls is much less than in the case of floors, since they are not walkable surfaces, we are going to focus on microcement floors.

A decorative coating that is experiencing exponential growth and that we find as a covering for all types of floors, both in private homes and in large warehouses or commercial premises.

These are the four most important tips on microcement cleaning:

1. In the first week after the application of the microcement, it is very important not to clean the floor under any circumstances. During the drying of the microcement floor, it is essential to ventilate the room so that it dries properly before any cleaning of the microcement is carried out. Pouring any type of liquid on the floor could change the colour of the microcement floor, lighten the surface or even whiten it. Therefore, avoid at all costs even walking on the floor.

2. Once the first week has passed after the application of microcement on the floor, the microcement pavement can be gently cleaned using only water. Why? Because you have to wait for the porosity of the microcement floor to completely close, and this only happens after the first seven days.

3. Allow at least one month for the microcement floor to acquire the hardness and resistance it provides. From this moment on, the microcement can be cleaned with neutral soap and water.

4. Do not use abrasive or aggressive products under any circumstances such as metal brushes, sandpaper, acids or ammonia, among others. As if you do, the microcement floor could be seriously damaged.

Specialized products for microcement cleaning

Although water and neutral soap are enough to clean the microcement, both floors and walls; at Topciment we propose two specialized products for the cleaning of microcement. Two cleaners that further enhance the durability of the optimal state of this innovative coating.

Clean microcement with Ecoclean Basic

Ecoclean Basic it is an eco-friendly detergent cleaner aimed at a more domestic scope, as it is ideal for cleaning the microcement of walls and floors of private homes. Thanks to its high degreasing and descaling power, it quickly removes accumulated grease, food residues, lime marks or oil.

But, how is it applied on the microcement floor or the microcement wall? Very easy. You just have to dilute it with water and apply it on the surface with a mop, sprayer, cloth or sponge. For a deep cleaning of the microcement, you have to let the product act between 5 and 15 minutes.

Clean microcement with Ecoclean Pro

At Topciment we also have Ecoclean Pro, a detergent cleaner respectful to the environment and of an alkaline nature. A factor that leads to the need to use protection to clean the microcement on walls and floors, hence it is aimed at a purely professional use.

Ecolean Pro is highly recommended for cleaning garages or workshops, hotels, restaurant kitchens, hospitals, hotels, airports, shopping centres and other large surfaces. Unlike Ecoclean Basic, its degreasing power is much greater, and, therefore, it is capable of virtually eliminating all stains and marks. Even the most difficult and persistent ones such as tire marks, release agents, pollution, soot, lime, oil, food residues, fats, blood, etc.

Regarding its application on microcement walls or microcement floors, it can be applied either concentrated or diluted in water depending on the degree of dirt on the surface. In the case of diluting the cleaner with water and then spraying it on the surface to be treated, the product should be left to act for 5 to 15 minutes. Once that time has passed, a cloth or mop is used and then it is rinsed with water.
