How to Apply the TopSealer® WT Natural Effect Polyurethane Sealer for a Natural Finish

Achieving a flawless finish not only depends on the skill and technique of the applicator but also on the proper preparation of the substrate according to its specific requirements. TopSealer® WT Natural Effect is straightforward to apply. Here are the steps to follow.

Surface Preparation

Before applying the varnish, ensure that the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or any impurities that might interfere with adhesion. If the surface was previously varnished, the existing layer must be removed by sanding or stripping, especially if there are signs of damage or deterioration. Likewise, any repairs should be carried out before applying the sealer.

Apply Presealer

It’s recommended to apply a coat of Presealer first to optimize absorption and level the base, allowing a drying time of 6 hours before proceeding with the natural-finish polyurethane sealer TopSealer® WT Natural Effect.

Mixing Component A with Component B

For preparation, Component A should be mixed with Component B using low-speed stirring to avoid generating bubbles. The mixing ratio is 5 parts (by weight) of TopSealer® WT Natural Effect Component A to 0.5 parts of TopSealer® WT Component B.

Apply Two Thin Coats

Once the mixture is ready, apply two thin coats of the TopSealer® WT Natural Effect polyurethane sealer, lightly sanding the first coat with 400-grit sandpaper to ensure a smooth, uniform surface. The final coat doesn’t require sanding, resulting in a continuous, flawless finish.

Wait for Full Surface Curing

TopSealer® products achieve their full chemical properties after 7-14 days, depending on environmental conditions. For this reason, it’s essential to wait at least one week for the product to fully cure.
