Formulated with water-based polyurethane resins, it is a paint with good resistance to running water. It is therefore a very suitable product for rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens.

How to apply Emottion tile paint: step by step
Applying Emottion is quick and easy. In just four steps the professional will completely renovate the surface. The process can be carried out with a brush or a short-haired velourex or microfibre roller.
Although it must be said that Emottion decorative paint can also be applied with the can also be applied with a spray gun. In this case, it is necessary to dilute between 2% and 5% of the decorative paint with water.
+ Application tile paint step by step
Step 1. Prepare the substrate before using Emottion tile paint.
The first step is to clean and prepare the substrate. Make sure it is dry and free of dust, grease and dirt. For deep cleaning, use our ECOCLEAN BASIC detergent cleaner.
Step 2. Prime the substrates where necessary.
If Emottion is used as a tile paint, no priming is necessary. But for other materials Primacem ABS (absorbent surfaces), Primacem Plus (non-absorbent surfaces), an anti-corrosion primer (metal) or primer varnish (wood) should be used.
Step 3. Apply 2 or 3 coats of Emottion tile paint.
Apply two to three coats of Emottion by brush, short nap velour roller or microfibre in one day. Allow 2-3 hours between coats. Allow to dry for at least 24-48 hours before use.
Step 4A. Seal if there is moisture or risk of splashing.
If the tiles to be painted are exposed to high humidity or splashing, seal the substrate with two coats of Topsealer® WT One Coat (24 hours between coats). Allow to dry for 48 hours.
Step 4B. Optional sealing for a matt or gloss finish.
If a matt or gloss finish is desired, apply two coats of Topsealer® WT One Coat (allow 24 hours between coats). Allow to dry for at least 48 hours.
Tips for applying Emottion tile paint
There are a number of considerations to take into account when applying Emottion. The most important ones are listed below:
1. Use Ecoclean Basic before applying Emottion tile paint
Before applying Emottion, it is essential to check that the substrate to be painted is completely dry, clean and free of dust, grease and dirt.
For a more thorough cleaning, although not strictly obligatory, we recommend the use of our Ecoclean Basic detergent cleaner to clean the substrate more thoroughly.
2. Check the ambient temperature.
To apply the Emottion decorative paint, the ambient temperature must be between 10ºC and 30ºC. Failure to respect this range may cause problems in the subsequent application of the product.
3. In areas with high humidity, seal the substrate.
If you want to apply Emottion decorative paint in areas exposed to high humidity, such as showers, we recommend sealing with two coats of Topsealer® WT One Coat. This will extend the durability of the new coating.
4. Sealing in areas exposed to stains and splashes.
It will also be necessary to seal the substrate in areas prone to stains and splashes, especially oil splashes. Apply two coats of Topsealer® WT One Coat.
5. Sand or strip the previous coating before applying Emottion tile paint.
If the coating on which the Emottion paint is to be applied has been previously varnished or painted, it is essential to check that it is in good condition. If this is not the case, it is advisable to remove it completely before using Emottion. This can be done by sanding or stripping.
6. Prime absorbent surfaces with Primacem ABS before applying Emottion tile paint.
On absorbent surfaces, such as plaster or plasterboard, which are to be coated with Emottion, it is advisable to use our Primacem ABS primer.
7. On non-absorbent surfaces, apply Primacem Plus before decorating with Emottion tile paint
Similarly, for non-absorbent surfaces, it will be inevitable to use a specific primer before applying Emottion. At Topciment we have developed the adhesion promoter Primacem Plus.
8. Primer lacquer, essential when applying Emottion tile paint on wood
Although Emottion was initially designed as a paint for tiles, its versatility means that it can be used on other substrates such as wood. In this particular case, it should be taken into account that it may be necessary to apply two coats of a varnish primer with subsequent sanding.
9. Applying Emottion tile paint on metal? You need an anti-corrosive primer
Emottion's versatility also benefits metals, where it can be applied without any problems. However, it is necessary to check whether the substrate is in good condition or not, whether there are no traces of oxides and, finally, to use an anti-corrosive primer.
10. Respect the drying time of Emottion tile paint.
Allow at least 48 hours drying time before using Emottion. The curing time, which will depend on the environmental conditions of each space (they vary depending on whether it is indoors or outdoors), will be approximately two weeks.

Frequently asked questions Emottion
Emottion is a multifunctional paint. Not only can it be applied on tiles, but it is also compatible with other substrates such as wood, plasterboard, microcement and metal.
Emottion is a ready-to-use decorative paint, so no preparation is required. Just open the can and apply directly, without primer, on the tiles to be coated.
Yes, Emottion paint can be applied without any problem on embossed tiles. In fact, the surface to be painted will maintain the texture of the relief, as it is still a paint.
If you want to remove the relief from the existing tiles, this should be done before applying Emottion.
In the specific case of Emottion, approximately 0.15 litres of paint per square metre is required for two coats. This is the recommended ratio.
If a new decorative finish is required over time, it is not necessary to remove Emottion. It is sufficient to apply another decorative paint on top of it, checking its adhesion in an area that is not visible.
If you would like to apply another type of material such as microcement, for example, you would have to treat the surface with the primer.
Emottion can be used on tiles that have already been painted, especially with plastic paints. Just make sure that it is well adhered and paint over it. If it is not, it should be sanded or stripped to remove the coating.
On the other hand, with tiles that have been painted with enamel, the adhesion test should be carried out in a non-visible area.
If over time you would like to use a different colour of Emottion decorative tile paint, simply apply the new colour over the old one. In the case of changing from a darker to a lighter shade, we recommend testing beforehand in an inconspicuous area.
Although in the Emottion step-by-step we recommend applying between 2 and 3 coats in 24 hours, there is absolutely nothing wrong if we want to do it for several days in a row. It is a product with excellent adhesion between coats.
Due to its covering power, applying two or three coats of Emottion decorative tile paint is sufficient. However, if you wish to apply more coats, this is no problem. However, a drying time of 2 to 3 hours between coats must be observed.
Emottion is a paint that is resistant to running water, wine and pH-neutral soap. However, care must be taken with abrasive chemicals and hydrochloric acid, to which it is not unalterable.
Particular care must be taken with bleach or oil stains, as stains will appear after 3 hours of contact. It is therefore very important to clean immediately.
The cleaning and maintenance of Emottion is not at all demanding. It is sufficient to wash with a neutral pH soap or even use our Ecoclean Basic detergent.
Emottion can be used outdoors. For extreme weather conditions, we recommend protecting the coating with two coats of our one-component water-based polyurethane varnish Topsealer® WT All in One.
Yes, Emottion is a decorative tile paint that is resistant to ordinary water.
Emottion is a satin finish paint. However, if you are looking for a different finish, such as gloss or matt, you can do so by using Topsealer® WT All in One varnish, which will further increase the chemical resistance of Emottion.
