TopSealer® WT Dragon: the most desired water-based polyurethane varnish

We introduce TopSealer® WT Dragon, a water-based polyurethane varnish with superior chemical resistance. Ideal for bathrooms and exteriors. Once you use it, you won't want solvent-based varnishes anymore.

At Topciment®, we offer a wide variety of varnishes for microcement, the TopSealer® family. It includes polyurethane sealers, water-based, acrylic, and solvent-based, with different features and functions, allowing professional applicators to choose the one that best suits their requirements.

In our quest to surpass ourselves to meet the highest standards and offer the best possible products to the market, TopSealer WT® Dragon joins our family of water-based polyurethane varnishes. Once you try this sealer, you won't want to hear about solvent-based varnishes again.

An unbeatable water-based polyurethane varnish

TopSealer WT® Dragon is a polyurethane sealer specially designed to protect microcement coatings. However, its high-performance formulation, based on hydroxylated polyester resins and water-based isocyanates, makes this product the perfect complement to seal wood, parquet, sports floors, and many other surfaces.

This two-component water-based polyurethane varnish stands out, above all, for providing superior chemical resistance. Therefore, as we will see later, it is our best water-based varnish for wet areas such as bathrooms (except for pools, for which we have developed TopSealer WT® Pool).

1. Waterproof against ordinary water

Microcement in bathrooms is in good hands with TopSealer WT® Dragon, as it makes the coating impermeable to occasional contact with ordinary water. Additionally, this two-component water-based polyurethane varnish ensures the maintenance of water vapor breathability. If you want peace of mind in wet areas, this is the sealer you're looking for.

2. Excellent resistance to chemical agents

From notable resistance to water to extraordinary resistance to chemical agents and other liquids. This water-based polyurethane sealer has excellent resistance to bleach, soda, oil, vinegar, wine, and many others.

3. Great resistance to abrasion wear

With a König Hardness of 200 seconds after 14 days of curing, TopSealer WT® Dragon offers very good resistance to abrasion, foot traffic, and scratches.

4. No yellowing outdoors

Just as we pride ourselves on the versatility of our microcement systems, which can be applied outdoors, our sealers are no exception. In this regard, TopSealer WT® Dragon does not yellow under sunlight, making it an excellent option as an outdoor sealer.

Where to use TopSealer® WT Dragon water-based polyurethane varnish

In general, TopSealer WT® Dragon is highly compatible with a variety of substrates. As we have specified before, it is not only considered a microcement varnish, although it is its main function.

This two-component water-based polyurethane varnish, available in gloss, satin, and matte finishes, can be applied to any surface where a good aesthetic and protective finish is desired. For example, it provides a very natural finish on wood.

Returning to our microcement systems, which is our main focus here, TopSealer WT® Dragon is ideal for protecting all our microcement systems without exception: cement-based, lime-based, and epoxy-based.

• Impeccable in wet areas like bathrooms

If you want to play it safe in spaces exposed to water and ambient humidity, such as bathrooms, TopSealer WT® Dragon is a guarantee of success. Its higher chemical resistance compared to other water-based varnishes gives it an advantage in this field of use. You won't regret it.

• Suitable for exteriors

Most of our varnishes are suitable for coating pavements and facades exposed to sunlight. However, the water-based polyurethane varnish TopSealer WT® Dragon provides an extra level of resistance, which is why we recommend it as the perfect sealer for outdoor use.

• Safe in high-wear areas

Warehouses, offices, restaurants... all these areas experience high levels of wear and tear. Surfaces that require tougher microcements, such as Industtrial (epoxy-based), Natture (lime-based), or Sttandard (cement-based), and also require more resistant sealers. TopSealer WT® Dragon is more than suitable for sealing and protecting these areas.

How to apply the water-based polyurethane varnish TopSealer® WT Dragon

TopSealer WT® Dragon is a two-component water-based polyurethane sealer that is easy to apply. It is designed to be applied in just two coats and in less time than other varnishes. You can apply it with a spray gun, brush, or roller. Here are the basic steps to seal the coating.

1. Shake component A of the varnish

It is important to homogenize the product before using it as a sealer. Shake component A and then let it rest for a minimum of 30 minutes.

2. Mix component A with component B

Once component A has rested, add component B of the water-based polyurethane varnish TopSealer® WT Dragon by gently stirring at a low speed. The mixing ratio is as follows: 3 parts by weight of A to 1 part of B. Important: at an ambient temperature of 20ºC, the working time of the mixture is 1 hour.

3. Prepare the substrate before applying the varnish

Ensure that there are no traces of dirt, grease, or dust on the surface. If necessary, clean the surface. If the substrate is damaged or has any defects, repair them before applying our two-component water-based polyurethane sealer.

4. Apply two coats of Presealer

On mineral, cementitious, or microcement surfaces, apply two coats of Presealer (allowing a drying time of 4 hours between coats). Let it dry for a period of 12 hours.

5. Seal with two coats of TopSealer® WT Dragon

Once the mandatory 12-hour drying time has passed, seal the surface definitively with our TopSealer® WT Dragon. The drying time between coats will range from a minimum of 12 hours to a maximum of 24 hours. Only the first coat needs to be sanded with a 400-grit sandpaper.
