Application of varnish or sealer for microcement
We seal the microcement to protect it, the varnish gives it chemical and mechanical resistances and the option of having different finishes satin, matte, super matte or gloss.
After having applied the last layer of microcement and after waiting 24 hours for it to be completely dried we must start the sealing process. The sealing in addition to facilitating cleaning tasks, will make the surface become waterproof.
When the Topsealer WT sealer is used, the prior use of the Presealer primer is recommended. This forms a plastic film that penetrates the support and closes the pores preventing a greater consumption of sealer. It is applied in two coats with an interval of 4 h, it is recommended to sand between coats with 400 grit. To prevent problems with the adhesion of the protective layer and the appearance of veiling and bubbles, the moisture content of the coating should not exceed 5%.
It will be necessary to wait 4 hours before applying the Topsealer WT polyurethane on the primer. Apply in two coats using a short-haired Microfiber roller. The second coat is applied after a minimum of 12 hours, in the case of using Topsealer WT One coat (low temperatures and ambient humidity delay drying). The first coat is sanded with 400 grit and the last one does not require sanding. If applied over old varnish, sand the surface well to open the pore and remove traces of stains, grease, dust, etc. It is recommended to let it dry for a week and two weeks without covering or cleaning.
Pools made with Sttandard Aquaciment should be sealed simply with Presealer, it is applied in two coats with an interval of 6 h, completely covering the entire surface and allowing it to dry for five days before proceeding to fill the pool. Avoid any water stream during the sealing process and suspend the application in case of rain forecast.
The products for water maintenance should be previously dissolved in a container, and placed in the skimmers from where they will pass to the pool vessel. These products should not be poured directly, as they can produce white stains and discoloration at the bottom when they settle. It is advisable to renew the last coat of Presealer every two years, sanding the surface beforehand.
