Colours of imprinted concrete: the most used and Topciment range
The imprinted concrete is a construction material with great decorative qualities used to cover vertical and horizontal areas. This coating, increasingly used by professionals, resistances it treasures, which turn each space into a unique area.
But, in the decorative facet of stamped concrete not only the shapes given by its moulds are the most important or highlighted as it also has a wide range of colours that can pigment all the surfaces where it is applied.
Therefore, the colours of the imprinted concrete are one of those distinctive elements of this material that make it an eminently aesthetic material that allows choosing the colour to taste and even creating them, guaranteeing levels of personalisation unattainable for other materials that are used in renovations or in new construction. In this way, the colours of the imprinted concrete serve to make a difference.
Colours of imprinted concrete: spaces where they shine the most
When talking aboutimprinted concrete,we are making it from a material with unusual versatility. In fact, thanks to the large number of resistances it has, it can be applied to any pavement or wall ensuring the extreme durability of the areas where it is used.
It doesn't matter if the scope in which it is used is domestic, where it is used in homes, especially outdoors, surrounding the immediate areas of the pools. This is because its resistances to humidity and sun exposure are very large. In this context, it is also common to see this material lining the terraces.
It is also very common to find a material like this in the industrial or commercial field. We refer to factories, airports, public or private car parks, or large surfaces. In the floors of these areas, the resistance of this material may be key to withstand the heavy traffic of people, cars, trucks or other heavy-duty industrial vehicles that frequent these types of areas.
It is also common to see it on sidewalks, areas where human traffic is very high and which, in addition, are exposed to all kinds of blows or impacts from passers-by.
Anyway, we are going to detail in a more exhaustive way other areas where the colours of the imprinted concrete are going to remain as if the area had just been recently applied.
Outdoor patios
This is an ideal option for applying a material such as imprinted concrete, which has resistances that help maintain the textures of the moulds and the colours of its pigmentation systems. Also having a very high aesthetic versatility, its colours can be aesthetically adapted to the aesthetic requirements sought in this type of spaces, being able to paint the stone pattern grey, giving a more natural-realistic touch to this outdoor space.
Garden paths
Can you think of a more suitable construction material for those paths that are drawn, both in public and private gardens, that cross spaces with stones, flowers or decorative stones than imprinted concrete? By applying this material, these areas are safer as they can prevent slips, especially on rainy days or those when the floor is wet or damp. These spaces often turn out to be very attractive in various colours of the imprinted concrete, such as orange tones, or those dark ones that mimic larger stones.
Barbecue areas
Due to their resistances and also their ease of cleaning, applying stamped concrete in these areas is usually a success as this type of coated floors resist any type of stain and, then, when it comes to cleaning them, these can be easily removed using any cleaning product, preserving the colours of the imprinted concrete as if they were new.
Pools
Constant contact with water and humidity does not damage surfaces applied with imprinted concrete. This material guarantees beautiful surfaces where their colours will remain forever to create areas that remain chromatically intact over time and, in addition, safer as this material prevents slipping, allowing enjoyment in these spaces to be much greater when found surrounding the pool glasses.
Combining colours of imprinted concrete in rooms
Another of the great qualities of this coating is that it is able to adapt to any space, whether indoor or outdoor. This, the imprinted concrete, helps to create areas with a unique level of exclusivity as it puts its entire chromatic catalogue at the service of any area.
In this way, in addition to allowing any of its colours to be used to decorate any type of area, it also allows combining any of its colours to create new shades that give that characteristic and personal aspect to floors as well as walls, walls or facades.
This, coating surfaces with imprinted concrete in all its colours, represents a way of creating surfaces in the image and likeness of users at a really affordable cost. Thus, enjoying the areas that people want, with effects and colours that elevate them to another decorative level, is possible with this material.
Next, we leave you a list of suggestions for combining the colours of the imprinted concrete with spaces, which are going to delight any user.
- To create terraces with a more dynamic design, any colour of the imprinted concrete and any chosen shape, will help to achieve this effect. It should be noted that even though these are exposed to the weather, the colours will remain intact. Using different colours helps to define different areas.
- In homes with a garden, where the entrance to the house is a fundamental element and is usually extended, colours similar to the interior tiles can be used to pigment the imprinted concrete so that we feel inside the home even before entering it.
- For lofts we can use the silver grey colour to colour their floors and find the most suitable decorative style for this type of spaces. We are talking about the industrial one.
- For any type of space, indoor or outdoor, you can achieve warmer atmospheres by opting for brown colours and patterns that mimic natural wood. Warmth is at your fingertips when using a material like imprinted concrete.
- This coating is used on terraces, patios and slate-coloured pools to give it a rustic yet elegant feel. Although white is mainly used for polished concrete, you can use simpler patterns in which freshness is mixed with a marked character.
- For stairs and porches, the suggestion is to use patterns that reproduce the shapes of other construction or decorative materials such as bricks or cobblestones, yes, in greyish tones.
Most used imprinted concrete colours: Topciment range
If your idea is to dye the imprinted pavement to give it a much deeper personality, there are many combinations to achieve the desired effect, whether it's a completely unique colour or a very good imitation of the colour of a certain material.
The neutral colours such as grey, black and beige are probably the most used, which mimic natural stone, but reds, yellows and browns are also used, the latter usually imitating wood. Some of the shades currently used in the sector are:
Silver-Grey: since the primary colour of cement is grey, it's easy to obtain, so it's the most used. It's perfect for areas that want to maintain their rural appearance.
Blacks: although it is difficult to obtain rich blacks, it is possible to make them deep enough. These imprinted concrete colours are used for patios, pools and walkways.
Slate: this colour is associated with stone and therefore it is ideal for outdoor spaces, as it is a very discreet tone that is used to cover large surfaces.
Cream: this is one of the most used imprinted concrete colours because it can be combined with grey and brown interior and exterior designs.
Red: this type of pavement is common in industrial areas, parks and sports facilities, but it is also common in projects designed to imitate brick.
Brown: is one of the most used colours in dark or light shades. Sometimes it is used with prints that mimic wood. But it is usually applied in details and finishes of large surfaces.
White: this is one of the most difficult colours to achieve, and it is very likely that an exact white cannot be achieved. It requires a good finish with white cement that creates a very light grey tone.
How are the areas of imprinted concrete pigmented?
The best decorative coatings must be made up of the best pigments. Colours are a separate factor in floor decoration, as they beautify the same result. This is especially true in the case of stamped concrete floors or pavements, which are a continuous coating that imitates the texture and colours of different natural or constructive elements.
That's why, at Topciment, we have two types of systems for colouring imprinted concrete. Two different ways such as mass pigmentation and dusting. Let's detail a bit each of these two great options.
Arcocem, colouring of bulk concrete
With our systemArcocem, which combines with our full range of concrete pigments, gives each area a personal touch. These pigments have a high intensity and can be arranged in many different colours to create unique and highly durable finishes.
These pigments stand out for their high colour stability and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, demonstrating excellent resistance to UV rays, weather and alkalis. This is possible because our pigments undergo a complex and strict quality control.
Thanks to their excellent chemical stability, our pigments can withstand the most extreme environmental conditions. Thanks to good heat resistance, the colour remains intact without losing its intensity.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the intensity of the shade will depend on the amount of pigment used. Other factors such as particle size, water-cement ratio, trowel or porosity can also affect the colour of the concrete or mortar.
At Arcocem® we have pigments for concrete in powder, water and solvent form. Each subfamily takes into account its own colour chart, from more intense and vibrant colours to more neutral colours and muted tones.
Care of coloured imprinted concrete
To keep the areas printed with this material in the best conditions and, above all, so that they do not lose their colours, it is not necessary to make great efforts., but it is necessary to take into account the area where they are applied.
Depending on the installation location, imprinted pavements require certain care that, in no case, are going to be expensive. For example, in areas of swimming pools, gardens, outdoor corridors and terraces, pressed concrete is usually chosen for its anti-slip properties, and daily cleaning is recommended, first with dust and leaves and then with water. Another way to do it and clean it in a very simple way is by using a watering hose.
On the other hand, the coatings of imprinted concrete in log colour and slate colour tend to remain intact due to their resistance to the environment, and in general, since imprinted concrete is used in exterior claddings, it guarantees a perfect colour for a long time.
In short, to take care of the colour of the stamped concrete pavement you only need to clean it once a day to avoid the accumulation of dust or residues that can cause problems and be attentive, in the case of surfaces that are outside of the weeds.
